It's Great to be 8 part 3

After the baptism we all met up at Molcajetes restaurant to celebrate the event.

It was a blast!

Then we went home and Arieanna got to open gifts from those who gave her some.

She got a journal from her Sunday school teacher to record her thoughts about her baptism and money and toys!

Thanks soo much to family and friends who made her day extra special.  She will remember this day because of you!

We all love you Arieanna and are glad that you made such a wise decision to be baptized into Heavenly Fathers church!

It's Great to be 8 part 2

So my dear sister Tammy helped me out with an invite and so did my friend Ash.  I had originally asked my sis but at the last minute didn't think she would have time...so I asked Ash if she could whip one up and this is what she did...

She did a great job! Then my sis Tammy ended up having enough time after all and came up with this...

She did a great job too.  So we ended up giving half and half out to those we invited!

Saturday came and Arieanna was soo nervous, anxious and excited about being baptized.

Loading up in the car to go to the church.

By the way, this is what we did with her hair.  In the back, I braided up three cornrows to meet in the middle with the curls so it would hold up well after she got out. It did just that, all I had to do after she got out was blot her hair with a towel and straighten her bangs real quick and voila!

We showed up to the church early and took family pics before!

There was actually 3 girls getting baptized but I couldn't find the other one anywhere.  But this is Arieanna and Elsie! What beautiful little girls!

Arieanna and Daddy right before being baptized.

And after the program we were able to get all three girls together to snap a shot!

Elsie, Kate, Arieanna

What Pretty little girls!

More to come.....

It's Great to be 8 part 1

Arieanna turned the big 8 on March 2, 2012! What a big year this is for her as she was baptized into The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints! She was anticipating this day for a long while now and it finally became reality for her. She decided that she wanted a "rainbow" theme for it cause the rainbow reminds her of God's promise that He made us!

We first started her birthday off with a "rainbow" hairstyle but instead of red we used pink!

Then, we made some "rainbow" cupcakes for her class at school.  Let me tell you, this was a very time consuming thing when it came to making the actual cupcake itself.  You see, there are six different colors in the rainbow and the batter was thick...so each color that I put into the tin I had to spread out with my finger (don't worry, I washed my hands).  Just think, I had to do this 35 times.  But it was well worth it;-) So this is what the cupcake looked like without the frosting and decor. Isn't it pretty!

I was going to just frost the top and be done with them but oh no...Arieanna wanted a little bit more to it so this is what we came up with!

The kids really enjoyed them especially when they saw that the cupcake was a rainbow!

Getting ready to pass them out!

Arieanna, as her classmates sing Happy Birthday!

Then when she got home, Manuel and I sang Happy Birthday and gave her her gift.

We got her her own set of scriptures with an adorable scripture bag...and inside the bag was a baptism necklace, bracelet and CTR ring! She was super ecstatic!

It says CTR on the side;-)

Alayna even made her a little card! What a sweet sister she is!

Since her birthday fell on a Friday this year, her baptism wasn't until Saturday.  So we went ahead and decided that we would just do something simple and sweet on Friday and then do more with the family and friends on Saturday!

More on the baptism in the next post...........

Manuel's blanket

When Manuel and I first got married, there was this blanket that I was dying to get rid of.  It was just all raggedy and torn up and ugly.  Little did I know that when I tried to get rid of it Manuel would not let me.  He informed me that it was his blanket for years and he wanted to pass it down to his kids.  So I held on to it for him but there was no way it would last long enough for his kids (not that I was gonna let him give it to them).  So just yesterday as I was cleaning the downstairs I found it and decided to ask if we can just give it to the dog since it was soo torn up.  He had a hard time but finally decided to part ways with it! Yessss!  Finally got rid of that darn thing!

Adding another Addition to our Family!

Yep, you heard that right...except it's not a baby, it's a dog!!! Manuel came home with a dog that some guy was giving away at the dairy. We figured we'd give him a shot and see if he could warm up to the kids and vice versa.  I actually didn't think I was ready for a dog yet but for some reason this one made me change my mind.  He's such a good dog and minds pretty well.  The kids are really enjoying him and Manuel now has a buddy to go to work with him! So we now evened out our family from a family of 7 to a family of 8 lol:-) We still need to decide if we want to change his name. The previous owners called him Tank.  We'll see if we think it fits?

Happy Valentine's Day!

For the girls hair today they wanted the usual hearts that we've been doing for the past couple of years.  I didn't want to do the same thing as the years before so I added a little twist to it this year!
I did the usual heart, but added side braids to Alayna's...

...then to Arieanna's I did two hearts on one side then a braid on the other.

For Manuel I did the cheesy mirror graffiti and made him a rice krispie kiss along with a card!

Then made some more rice krispie kisses along with some chocolate for the girl's teachers.

And since I didn't get a chance before, here's a little of V-Day decor that I made with my friend Tawnya!

Okay, so the top one I made and the bottom one I ordered but I could've made it too if I wasn't so busy lol!

Hope ya'll had a fabulous V-Day!

Snow Adventures!

That's what Arieanna wanted to call this post! Over the last few days we have been enjoying the adventurous things that we've been doing with the snow.  First we went sledding! What's sledding without inner tubes baby! Ever since I was a kid we always went sledding (or should I say tubing) on Cherry Hill.  It's the best sledding ever! So can you guess where I took my kids? What what (raising my hands to the roof)! We absolutely loved it.  The hills were like going down curvy slides and Arieanna, Alayna and I were even brave enough to go to the very top of a steep hill.  It was so funny cause when we got toward the bottom, where there was a bump, we literally flew in the air! It was AWESOME! I didn't get any pics of Cherry Hill cause I left the camera, but I did get some pics of when we went to the Dykstra Park to "tube"! (Lol, that sounds funny!)

After we were done, we were feeling kinda guilty cause we didn't take Noah:-( So we went back to Dykstra Park later on that night with Tia Yanet and Aybet to let Noah join in on the fun!

We had so much fun that we pooped ourselves out.  So we went home and munched out on a bunch of junk food and went to bed!

The next day we woke up and our poor little Sam and Noah had what people call the "croup".  So instead of going to church and freaking people out with their coughs, we played hooky and stayed home. Now I don't really think that the boys actually have the "croup", it's just that their cough always sounds bad like if they do have it.  Back when Isaiah had it, the doctor told us the best thing we could do is bundle him up and take him out in the cold and let the cold air get to his throat.  SOoooo we did just that today except we added a little twist to it.  We taught the kids a lesson then went outside cleared off the back porch and roasted some smore's while we let the cold air get to their throats!

It sure did help with their little coughs!

Next on our "Snow Adventures" list is building snow forts and having a snowball fight!

Tootles!!
